Catching up with Marvel

With everything that has been going on with my life, I have still been reading comics, have done little else than compile the reviews here and never finish it so this is a helter skelter compilation of issues that came out in December and have been sitting here for a month, I am going to make another post where I sum up the year maybe even do a top ten comic books of 2016, but until then lets catch up with what Marvel did last month.


The 8th issue of Black Panther finds it going back into a contrived Game of Thrones like family drama and losing all of the fun a super-hero comic should have. Contrived story lines abound in the explanation of Gwen's jump into this world in Amazing Spider-man as now the tangled web grows bringing Kaine into the mix. The 15th issue of the Sam Wilson book veers from his story to focus on Demolition man's wrestling. Not bad but not great either. The 13th issue of Old Man Logan turned into a bizarre anime like thing. I'm fine with Black Cat coming on board for the 12th issue of Hell-cat, but what is up with Jubilee? The book would benefit from better art and less of a Squirrel Girl attitude.The 16th issue of Extraordinary X-men wraps up the silly Inferno like story line so they can go head on with the In-humans, it all felt a little contrived. The same could be said for Black Widow which finds the book floundering by it's 8th issue. The first issue of this new volume of Ghost Rider doesn't owe too much to the Agents of SHIELD version of the character allowing Robbie to be who is is. With the addition of Cho Hulk and X-23, I think it was too cluttered as those guys don't show a connection to Ghost Rider. The second issue of the Great Lakes Avengers was well drawn and not a thoughtfully plotted out.

All New Wolverine's 14th issue is predictable but keeps the story moving in the new Enemy of the State arc that finds Laura at odd with Shield. The 14th issue of Dr. Strange brings in Satanna, who attempts to force fed strange into the role of her celebrity hell, I like the way she is drawn in this and want to see more of her in the Marvel U. The second issue of Jessica Jones does a great job of blending the feel of the show with what a Marvel comic books should have and much of this is due to the inclusion of Spot from Spider-man's rogues gallery. Not of fan of the break up with Luke Cage. The second issue of the Infamous Iron-man only just begins the show down with Ben Grimm that is teased on the cover. It's ok, nothing to really get too excited about. Mosaic's second issue was better, but I am not sure he can hold his own book, he belongs in the In-humans.

This Fall in Marvel or the Fall of Marvel?

So I am a little behind in writing this and after starting this blog 6 years ago as my own passion project I have realized how shitty comics have become in the past 6 years and have to dig deeper to find inspiration to write about them . This is a problem if some one loves comics enough to write about them on a consistent basis then who is to blame when they no longer can find the same joy the once had reading them. Not burned out on Marvel's characters as I played the Future Fight game on a daily basis,I am committed  the characters ...I have Thor tattooed on one arm and eventually want to get the Hulk and Dr. Strange. It's the fact Marvel has gotten rid of so many of the core characters to replace them with social justice versions, which might be the plight of what will happen when Disney buys them finally settled into place. No this doesn't mean I am giving up on this blog, I don't give up my inspiration shifted to having to be a voice that says "Marvel you have lost your way, You are fucking up"

 Sure Amazing Spider-man right now is bringing some good moments, but will it fix the Clone debacle or dig a deeper grave with "Dead No More"?   Dr. Strange is also pretty solid and finds Stephen so far as the same character not a female or colored version of the character though the end of Magic thing is getting a little plodding. Sam Wilson Captain America finds Sam having to stoop low enough to take the fight to US Agent in a way that allow him to beat him.This happens to still make the book better than the 5th issue of the Steve Rogers Captain America book. The 9th issue of Captain Marvel finds the Alpha Flight turn on her. The Dr. Strange annual could have been much better than it was and finds Clea's return being very anti-climatic. Web Warriors needs to be put out of it's misery, but it seems to keep going for no known reason. I didn't bother with Squirrel Girl or X-men 92. Cage's first issue is weird almost like a Crumb book and almost bordering on being racist in it's stereotypes, it feels like Mad Magazine parodying a Luke Cage comic.

Spider-Woman 's 11th issue finds Jessica Drew confronting Carol Danvers and power set is just not enough to do any damage more than hurt here feelings. Hopefull we will see Danvers get her ass kicked good by someone over the course of this though I have a feeling it won't be Tony Stark. Totally Awesome Hulk finds Black Panther going after Cho. He is using a Wakanda Hulk Buster armor of sorts and tries pulling out every trick in the book, but while it's left hanging thanks to stupid sub-plots with Cho's sister, if Cho can't outsmart T'Challa then this book has proven itself unworthy. Speaking of odd fights the 5th issue of Thunderbolts finds Winter Soldier gunning for Miles Morales. I am not sure how Miles who is a kid can hold his own so well against some one with Bucky's experience. If this was Peter Parker I would get it.The 3rd issue of the Kingpin Civil War issue finds this book heading in a direction that is a better depiction of Punisher than the Punisher's own book making this one of the week's best books. The first issue of the Champions is alright, the chemistry of the team needs some work. The art is un-even, better in some places than others often too cartoonish.

This Week In Marvel 2/24/16

So the big news is Iron Fist has found it's Danny Rand in Game of thrones actor  Finn Jones. Not my first choice, but of course this brought a grumble from the idiots of the inner webs complaining that it wasn't an asian actor. This is the pinnacle in stupidity since Danny Rand is blond. Aren't asians being stereotyped as martial artists in the first place? It would be racist for Rand to not be white. Racism has nothing to do about the color it's being vented against. But that is propaganda for you. Now to comics...bringing Uncle Ben back from the dead in Amazing Spider-man's 1.3 issue , not only made we scratch my head and back track to read previous issues, just doesn't have the impact it should and I can think of many more characters who would benefit from being brought back. I always tell myself Squirrel Girl is never going to be good and I am right, this time I'm sticking to my guns as this last issue was just a waste of time. Angela Queen of Hel,  continues to try to hard to push it's lgbt agenda. I have noting wrong with gay characters, ret-conning and making some one gay after the fact I have a problem with. Karnak's second issue is a mixed bag the plot is a little thin, the art is stylistic but well done for what it is. I don't see him carrying a book on his own for long. Drax's 3rd issue is obviously written by a wrestler, because that is what the plot resembles. Decent art and glad to see an old Hulk baddie in the mix. The 4th issue of the All- New In-Humans continues to be a disappointment and plot hole get bigger. They have a healer and Gorgon is in a wheel chair. What sense does that make? It took me a little bit to figure out what was no clicking for me in Hercules. The answer came after pondering the fourth issue. It's the introduction of the new gods based off modern thought that is weak. The art is fine, the action at least shows motion in the ocean, but the new bad guys are paper thin. The 5th issue of Howling Commandos find the series losing momentum and not keeping me as engaged. Venom Space Knight has Thompson separated from the symbiote and they meet up with a big ass space -panda, really the art is what sells the book as the story has gotten silly.


The art in Dare Devil is great. The book has an interesting use of perspective in the display of it's panels.  Steve Roger's seems to be a little forced in this issue, it's all set up with some action thrown in a good balanced book. The All- New X-men continues to be one of the better books despite the heavy handed teen drama. When Angel breaking up with X-23 is the cliff hanger when the rest of the team is throwing down with Blob, then you are heading in the wrong direction. The art is some of Marvel's best and what help ease the sting. This feels more like an X-men book than the other two titles. New Avengers shows improvement in it's 7th issue. Overall the book has been rather hit or miss. I don't care about White Tiger or Power-Man, but it was a smooth read with decent art. Silk continues to work despite it's art into the fifth issue. I'm not a fan of how Black Cat is drawn, but glad to see she how grown into a bigger player in the crime world. Speaking of poorly drawn but getting better as a book Hell-Cat's 3rd issue felt more like a super-hero book. A villain who controls bed-bugs might be throwing her light weights. Ant-man is becoming one of the better books. Some of the side story lines get a little fuzzy, but overall  it has the classic Marvel feel that I want out of books a balance of plot and throwing down. Unsure about the new Giant-man, I had forgotten Pym was dead. So if that is the way it's gotta be then that is the way it's gotta be, but the new guy needs to start working out.

Why Spider-man's Arrival into Marvel Films Might Not Be a Good Thing

Sure Marvel set the internet ablaze with the announcement that the character would be swinging his way into the Marvel Studios films after being kicked around in some rather shoddy and too often maskless Sony films. The logistics of this vary depending on the ever shifting accounts some sources say Sony will have the last say other sources cite Marvel as being the final word. It is pretty much decided that this will occur during Captain America 3, which is going to tell the Civil War story that put Stark against Rodgers with Spider-man eventually caught in the middle.  Then a stand alone Spider-Man movie will take place in 2017, pushing the release date of Thor 3 and everything thing else that is not an Avengers Sequel back, such as Captain Marvel, the Inhumans and Black Panther. Sure that is exciting in theory, but before you get your hopes up, having Spider-man might be worse than not having him at all.

I was first clued into what has now swelled into a bigger debate on-line, one which should clearly only have the one right answer, when I read the press release in regards to casting that stated they are looking for an actor considerably younger than Garfield to play Spider-Man. The key word here being Spider-man. They did not say they were looking for a younger actor to play Peter Parker. This means it could be the Spider-man from the Ultimate Universe Miles Morales, a black kid who became Spider-man after Peter Parker died and Norman Osborn did a little genetic tinkering with him. It could be all a legal illusion since Sony still has Spider-man related projects in the work, so like the wiggling being done to share Quicksliver, it could be the deal means Marvel can use Spider-man, but Sony still gets Peter Parker. In this case everyone loses.

I have some friends who feel Marvel will do the right thing and make this Peter Parker. But let's think about the fact they already gave us the Ultimate Universe version of Nick Fury. But it can be argued that's because every one loves Samuel Jackson. Then came black Norse gods.To which even Jackson raised and eyebrow at. Marvel is operating under the misguided notion that there needs to be more diversity in comics, since the movies are bringing them at a wider audience . But didn't these fan boys and girls buy them when Thor was a man and Captain America was white? Then why change that. Why not give the existing female and black characters a bigger push. But some might say there are not enough super-heroes of color in the pages of Marvel...maybe not if you are stupid and just don't know the mythology but last time I counted there is Blade, Luke Cage, Storm, Black Panther, Brother Voodoo, War-Machine, Bishop, Falcon, Cardiac, Cloak, Deathlok, Bill Foster aka Goliath,Synch, Jetstream, Misty Knight, Triathlon, Moses Magnum, the new Power-man, Moon-boy, Sun-spot, Rage, Night-thrasher, Rocket racer, Silhouette, Patriot, Photon, Prodigy, Prowler, Puma, Vibraxas, Anarchist, Krystalin, and White Tiger...only five of those have hit the big screen so there's the problem. Another question is where is the out cry for other demographics not represented Jewish super heroes, Asian super-heroes, Polish super-heroes or native american super-heroes?

If wanting the character who have stood the test of time for the past fifty plus years to be depicted like they are in the pages of the comics that immortalized them is racist then I better start burning crosses, but even a writer of color for the Washington Post stated that while it's great to have Miles as a Super-hero it's still too early to have him on the big screen. He is not the only one others ask the same questions I do along with others like what happens one Obama is not in office? Why has it taken them so long to bring in Black Panther? Marvel will tell you Miles Morales is a very popular character...sure, but is he more popular than Peter Parker ? I think not.

State of the Union Marvel

Haven't been keeping you guys up to date on weekly books ,and to be honest none have really been blowing my socks off even though Marvel continues to unload new titles in it's Now! campaign so here is a state of the Union on where Marvel is at now. We will start with my favorites and go from there.

Thor ....is picking up in his solo title. He is back in Oklahoma and having a show down with Roxxon, the company that normally trouble Stark so it's a switch up, though the trolls have been brought in. I think the book suffers from, leaning on the future story line that is thrown in. In the Avengers books it seems like his role is crowded by having Hyperion around. He does seem to have a major role in this Original Sin series.

Hulk.. Banner was shot left brain dead. A shadow organization, that might be Hydra, creates a Abomination from gamma goo. Abomination is a zombie controlled by someone pull ing his strings , put he emit radiation that weakened the Hulk enabling him to dish out beat down. The Avengers.. Cap, Iron - man Ms. Marvel and Sunspot show up and Abomination doesn't try to fight them but still gives them a beat down. Hulk turns into Banner though Banner is not as brain dead but his brain is still scrambled and he is talking gibberish. So things are off to a better beginning than they have for some time with this book, though the Shield element is heavy, but with the success of agents of shield most of the books are starting to take on that tone. Agents of Shield are getting there own comic book which at this point would make Secret Avengers a mute point, though hopefully it looks like they are killing off the Samuel Jackson looking Fury.

Marvel is sorting through a lot of convoluted multi-universes in Avengers, there is a big mess with the Illuminati story line becoming the most interesting. Dr Strange is a major player in Original Sin though teamed up with Punisher for a buddy cop storyline. Lost interest in the solo books of Captain America and Iron-man. Ms- Marvel was paling around with Guardians of the Galaxy who of course are getting their big moment in the spotlight with the movie in August. Nova isn't bad, the guardians book is alright. Fantastic Four is back at a starting over point and hard to tell at this point.

Spider-man is Peter Parker, Slott is doing a good job of cleaning up the mess and there are not a ton of Spider-man books that are too hard to keep up with. X-men are a mess. All New is now getting hard to read. The under cover Avengers Accademy kids , I have also lost rack of with only Hellstorm making me keep an eye open, not sure where Skaar is but with the new Hulk writing cropping up in two more issues, he is supposed to be surfacing along with every other Hulk. Hulk is also going into a vs Iron-man thing as part of Original Sin.

From the solicits I have seen, it looks hopeful though, they need to steer clear of making a d/c mess with all the multiverses and don't go the other direction of making every thing Agents of Shield.

Wrap up of Avengers VS X-men

O.k going to hit on the big even wrapping before touching on some single issue stuffers. The past couple weeks.

So the shark was jumped when the Pheonix force spilt into the five x-men, Becuase the basic just x-men vs avgners fight would have wrapped in three issues with the X-men getting their asses handed to them , which would have occurred no matter what side Wolverine or Storm fell on.

So it's no surprise this went the way it did , so o.k we undid no more mutants and made Cyclops look like an ass hole, tis is nothing new I have never read him as a likable character. Black Panther and Storm split , who cares? The biggest repercussion is now the X teams and Avenger at further blurred and distort the. Sense of identity. I mean the whole mutant metaphor running the books is the outsider prespective. So take that way and it's powers and tights. I think the avengers had that covered, the fantastic four has space handled and the xmen handled the mutant fringe. The marvel now wants to jumble this up no wonder they want to give avengers vs xmen credit for creating the mess to come.

Other repercussions it looks like I might get my wish of having Luke Cageout of the avengers, the new avengers team looks liked Black Panather lead team of the Iluminatti with of course the now lobotomized corpse of Xavier not counted among them.


Things got better and worse the past couple weeks in new comics. On the better end was " the incredible Hulk" Jason Aaron is unlike Matt Fraction as he will hit fr ever two misses, this issue was a lot of fun though not with out its holes in the story such as it feels out of character for Dr.DOom to seek an outside help from a company who brokers mind assassins. But this VOn Doom chick who has a thing for Hulks is a good addition to the supporting cast, I can do without her henchmen. The doom bots being a sentient cult worshiping Doom, was a twist though this could have been introduced in Fantastic Four and I would be none the wiser.

There was some smashing , and we are going to see him in between the rock and the hard place with the assassin induced head ache and the gamma monsters who didn't pose too much of a problem earlier in the run. So Aaron won't go down as Pak or David but hope he makes the transition to the reboot gracefully.

Avengers 31... The art was great in the sense it was a creative use of splash pages. The whole Red Hulk vs Wonder-man fight didn't make much sense, did he use the ionic energy to knock him out as it sure the hell wasn't with a choke hold. It felt more liken avengers book than it has in the past and worked Asa tie wrap up for avengers vs xmen.

In the worse would be the mess that was Amazing Spiderman, though Captain Marvel and Secret Avengers were not much better. I also tried to give Journey into mystery a chance but it was a mythological mess. None of the books had the sort of art which at least made it an interesting collage of chaos to look at.

The d/c zero titles continue to not having any appeal and the xbooks in the post avengers vs x- men story lines did not look appealing, though maybe ill get bored and give them a shot , this time traveling original team book I will give a shot as I will uncanny avengers, though expectations are low from what I have seen in the trade previews.

Yet to read red she hulk or uncanny avengers so I will write those up when. I do also look for me to a review of the arrow , the green arrow show premiering this week.

New..er Comics and other News

So the panels involving any avengers versus any x-men could have been condensed down into no more than six pages, proving every other big event in marvel might be interesting as I think it's safe to say I enjoyed siege more, though that's two years ago now what was last year? Obviously something memorable. Amazing spider man the art didn't do much and lotta lizards pretty unremarkable ,but much less of a mess than the whole Mayan rule thing in the hulk title continues to be a d/c worthy clusterfuck of esoteric jumbo. Avengers 29...should have come out weeks ago the pacing of releases on a vs x is just horrible so Xavier popped up and made everyone think it was a dream to make him seem like he has had more of a prescience in this along...right. The editorial back pedaling to try and make the x-men seem less like the bad guys in hindsight is a pretty oops look at that corner we just wrote ourselves into and al these earth shaking changes , well you have got two issues to pull it off. Avengers academy ...held my attention , I liked the art alright as in it brought me back to the late 90s, the story works but feels like a cartoon mixed with a show on the cw The second issue of captain marvel is going to the drain already , the first issue the story. Add up for the art here it's like a wonder woman story line, mixed with the movie kick ass, the are dong a lot of remixes if you see the theme. Daredevil 17...felt very old school,almost forgot stilt man was a real thing which helped perpetuate the seventies vibe but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing Dead pool...59, yeah you read right he's getting his ass served to him by black Tom Cassidy and theres no juggernaut around, I need to go back and wiki it but where did Cain marko go when we got the juggerlossus? I think we last saw him in fear itself , that's the big post siege event I almost forgot, D/c is a sinking ship even Aquaman can't save, quick press sensationalism, has wonder woman and super man now about to hook up, I see this as the same as when celebrity just happen to start dating when they have a new movie coming out, if doubles their media coverage even though said actor is more than likely gay and his supposed love interest is sleeping with asixty year of studio executive. The chemistry these characters have is questionable the promo art hs super mn entwined in here lasso which brings back the s&m element that used to be present back in the golden years of wonder woman, I think the should be explored more and the dominatrix side of wonder woman is sadly ignored I see her being more of an Emma frost like figure just mor pragmatic . Other new rob lefield is leaving dc and had some. Biting parting shots about the companies editorial process and creative freedo. The general public is beginning to wise up to the 52 debacle and when I say general public I mean fans sounding off on the Internet,since we are the public who reds these make no mistake about, in expanding your audience d/c needs to ask why every person who watches big bang theory , alphas or dr who isn't reading their books, ok dr who there might be a stretch but the audience is out there and confused as to what is going on and could careless about reboots.

the Amazing Spider-man Movie

O.k finally got around to seeing a couple weeks later I know, but such is life when you are as broke as I am these days. The question on any one's mind is why another reboot? Money which this film has made so far the obvious answer. Criticism over the "dark" tone flourished, i only saw this in Andrew Garfield's angst ridden over acting. Parker being so belligerent towards his Uncle Ben and Aunt May, seems a little at odd with the character. His mumbling and repetitious attempts to spit words out made him seem autistic. But no more than Tobey McGuire's open mouthed gaping through out the first two Rami Spider films. I enjoyed this movie more than expected, pacing was it's primary problem as the Lizard's cgi rendering did not bother me as much as other reviews I have read. What did bother me was the fact it took the first 45 mins of the film before there was any proper Spider-man. The set up should have happened in the first 15 mins, if an audience can't piece it together in that frame of time, they should be taken into a pasture and shot not coddled in the movie theater, after all they bought a ticket to a movie called the Amazing Spider-man, a well know pop culture figure. J.Jonah Jameson was mysteriously absent and Norman Osborne was kept in the shadows for some so important in Peter's life. The Mary Jane factor stung a little as a supporting role in high school wouldn't have been hard to swing. Since we are on swinging the whole crane lets help spidery part was silly. My other complaint is his mask came off to much, they should have notedfromthe comics to eat or drink he pulls the mask up of his chin. I don't think this is fan boy nitpicking but the finer points of fleshing the character out. It felt almost apologetic towards having. Masked character,when having a secret identity is such. Large part of the character The effects in this movie ad Spider-man moving more fluidly and less rubbery than Rami's, film more wire work less cgi. The lizard got tons of criticism, mine lies in the face there no reason for him not to have a snout and look like the scillary scallery alligator from the Peter rabbit books for as a child the correlation made sense. I also think he looked better in the lab coat, it should have stayed on. Where the movie really hit is marks, the wall crawling looked good, the webbing looked good but could have been used in manners more akin to what we see in the comic. The action was well paced, I hated action movies like the Bourne series where the fight scenes make you dizzy and with Spider-man I have seen this become a problem even with the animated series ..hell the video game makes me dizzy, the point of view scenes where used sparingly. As far as powers go his spider-sense could have been more pronounced as well as his super human strength, I don't think I saw him lift anything heavy to accent this and it could have been more exaggerated when he hit people , as at this point what we were lead to believe is he doesn't know the extent of his powers. Against other superhero movies I would say it is on par with xmen first class and falling just behind the first iron man and captain America whic points out the flaws of the movie as I have more of an emotional invest in the character than in stark or Rogers,spidery falls just behind Thor and hulk for me in terms of marvel. With the money a made the ink is dried on this indeed being a trilogy we can bet on goblin and electro and kraken wouldn't surprise me though a hench man rhino would work and support from the black widow which MIT tie in the kingpin...a white one while we are at it.

Comics for 6/27/12

Wolverine and the X-men # 12 was a little bit of a diappointment , more Avengers fighting but the typical no clear cut winner aside from Wolverine taking Kid Gladiator out with a pressure point so no big points score for either team but with the Pheonix Force Five...not  the shitty christian nu-metal band, the powered up X-men, there has been no real fighting in a arc that has vs in the title. Makes alot of sense I know. The art in this book is annoying better served for new mutants.

Mighty Thor #16, it's been awhile , maybe even a year since I have read an issue of Thor I have really liked , so it's good to see it moving in a better direction the art is where it need to be , having Thor chanting hail Satan how could I not like that ? He was caught in a dream, the Keep concept seems cool now Thor's awake it didn't take the cover of the next issue to let us know what is going doing , but we want to see Thor hit things witha hammer right, ok if this gets screwed up theres a problem

X-men Legacy # 269  I mean look at that cover alon is worth the price, great book a fight like these fights should go, though Ms  Marvel gets immobilized not knocked out so it's a draw against Rogue, though at her strength level she should be able to break out of ice don't mind going back to re-read why this isn't the case, and Majick is the first of the 5 to go bad ...how far behind can Colossus, Namor and Emma Frost be? Two of those three have been villians before.

X-men # 31 however was a boring disappointment and the under use of a cthulhu thing which just blew up from the jet ? really? the team is a little weak, could do with out pixie and domino,


Amazing Spider-man #688- the classic amping up the villians profile to coincide with the movies release. the writing is not bad just bogged down in some  stylistic choices in the story telling which could have been handled differently. Over all a good book with heavy credit going to the art.

Incredible Hulk # 10 like the previous issue , this one isn't really doing much for me , cyborg bears and they can hurt him how ? he seems to be at likea Mr Fixit strength level in this is drawn rather puny looking , and how is Kraven in the same league as the Hulk, ...um yeah , don't think so

FF #19- This should now stand for Fantastic Family rather than force or foundation, bascially every issue is some sort of feild trip for the Baxter building kinder care, there's potential but currently no action which character are fine and should drive the story but some violent conflic is need , and technically there was a little here but too little to pay three dollars for.



Justice League # 10-Not a bad book most interesting exploring the group dynamic and the writer gets what makes them tick, though wonder woman feels a little flat , howwever this Graves guy I'm not too keen on , maybe it's the abstract nature of of his power set. The art work it great theres a classic one page team shot.

The Flash #10- did nothing for me on any level granted I have been following this books the least nothing about it has any appeal, I think the character is handled in a much better context in Justice League

Teen Titans # 10- this was at first one of my favorite books of the 52 , now closing  in on a year later , not so much though the art work is still the best in the business, the tron like colors are pretty cool as well, Bunker still doesn't do much for me he's like a Lantern of sorts. Nothing really happened in this book,

Super-man #10- turned back the clock all the way to the early 90's all the way to disco mullets that cropped up, in the  the background characters like it was the cast from miami vice. This Anguish character I guees is in some ways like a female version of  a non-anadroid Vision.It ended like one of those hottess commerical foun in the first five pages of comics back in the day . Seems like the next arc might be intresting I'm not sure Clark is really benefitting from the 52 re-imagining as he doesn't seem to have any more of an edge in this book.

Aqua-man # 10- the uh oh Arthur has a dark secret feels forced. The art is great and there is action even if i'm not big on Black Manta, how does he do so well against Aqua -man when he doesnt have any powers?
The book moved alot better than some of the other titles and is this weeks best d/c title.

A vs X Don't believe the Hype

I can't believe i fell for it. Time and time again,the creator interviews saying this book is all about these two teams fighting and there more action on every page than any book I have worked on blah blah blah.... it's the equivalent of a metal band saying this is going to be our heaviest album yet and then putting out some shit like
"the Black Album" I will speculate the Bendis and Fraction involvement plays the biggest role in this crime. Not fighting really occurs here , Hope and Cyclops sparring or the one optic blast which was blocked at the end of the book, please. Avengers vs X-men is really getting off on the wrong foot.In this economy , shelling out four buck for this kind of tease is the same offense that inspired people to start pirating music ,when the influx of 2000's one - hit wonders began to dominate the air waves.Between the previews and issue zero we already had enough back story, if you want to see how a vs team story should go ..then wander back into the 80's and re-read Defenders vs the Avengers. The whole Nova thing two pages would have sufficed on top of what you already showed us. This begins the case for comic torrents.Color me disappointed .
Marvel's redeeming moment for the week was Amazing Spider-man 683- the ends of the earth arc is more entertaining than I anticipated if we think around the sill new action-figure suit Peter is wearing. The Avengers vs the Sinister six , it was the movie line-up plus Spider-woman. Which Is a smart move but where was Vision ? the art got the job done nothing mind blowing or that iconic but not a distraction.

Avengers Academy 28 wraps up the Run-aways arch seems well like a lazy cop-out anytime your problems magically solve themselves even when the dark arts are involved you ruin the suspension of disbelief and cheat your characters and the cartoon art doesn't relay seem to be trying that hard as well.
